Teacher-Preschool/School Age - Instructor (full-time position; non-regular, 12 months) Position 2240216
Responsibilities
This 12 month, non-tenure-track position involves Head Teaching in one of the classrooms at the University of Missouri Child Development Laboratory. In the Fall and Winter Semesters, the classroom programs include a part-day preschool and a before-and-after-school program for kindergarten through 3rd graders. In the summer the classroom houses a full-day program for school-aged children. In addition to Head Teacher responsibilities, the Instructor teaches a practicum course for family studies undergraduate students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in child development, early childhood education, or elementary education by hire date.
- 5 years experience working with preschool- and school-age children.
- Experience coordinating a before- and after-school program.
- Experience coordinating a summer school-age program.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Experience with accreditation.
- Research facilitation experience.
- Experience working with and/or instructing college age students.
- Experience driving children in vans or mini buses.
Minimum qualifications
Master's degree in a related field by hire date and a minimum of five years experience working with preschool and/or school age children are required. First Aid and CPR certification and background check clearance will be required before hire.
The Child Development Laborary (CDL)
The MU Child Development Laboratory is Missouri Accredited. There are over 90 children enrolled from diverse populations. The CDL serves infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children and operates year-round. The CDL functions as a training and research facility for campus programs.
The HDFS Department
The MU Child Development Laboratory is housed in the Department of Human Development of Family Studies. The department has 18 tenure track/tenured faculty members and instructors. It serves approximately 160 undergraduate majors and 80 masters and doctoral students. The faculty is a group of productive scholars studying areas including child care, development across cultures, development across the lifespan, family interaction and relationships, divorce and remarriage.
